Oak Bridge FAQS

What is the best way for me to feel "connected" at Oak Bridge?

As Oak Bridge grows larger, it's possible to feel "lost in the crowd" if you don't know many people. The best ways to get connected are through the following:

Volunteer to serve in a ministry. Serving not only helps you meet people and get connected, it's also a great way to feel like you're part of something "big." See our "Adult Ministry" page for a list of service opportunities available.

Visit before, between, and after services in our Oasis Food Court. It's always nice to chat with people while enjoying a cup of coffee or tea. Make a point to meet a new person every week, if you'd like!

Attend Tool Box study sessions.Tool Box is a teaching environment provided to help (people) take their “next step” towards following Jesus Christ. It provides a comfortable atmosphere to meet and be in community with others as you learn and grow in faith. For dates and classes, see our "Calendar" page.

Join a small group (home/community group). Small Groups are a core value at Oak Bridge, something we believe can be life changing. For more on small groups, see our "Adult Ministry" page.

Where will my children go when I visit?

Family is one of our core values at Oak Bridge, so we pour a lot of energy into making our children’s services just as excellent as our adult services. During the 10:45am service hour your children are invited to go to their age-appropriate classrooms, where they’ll have lots of fun as they make new friends and learn about God’s love. Nursery and toddler care are the only classes available during the 9:00am service hour, as most families with children K-6th attend our KidStuf service together at 9:30am.

We have a nursery for infants and crawlers (BabyBlvd), a class for toddlers through age 2 (CrossWalk), a preschool class for ages 3-5 (KidsCrossing), and elementary classes for grades K-4th (UpStreet & DownTown). If you have children in 5th grade through 12th grade, we invite them to join our main service on Sunday morning and then check out their age-appropriate events scheduled at the Oak Bridge Center.

Our Family service, called KidStuf, is something you won’t want to miss when you visit Oak Bridge! It’s geared toward children K-6th grade and their parents, but ALL ages are guaranteed to enjoy it! We have a high volume of teens that love to attend and serve in KidStuf...it's THAT fun!

Can I receive communion at your church?

At Oak Bridge we believe communion, or the Lord’s Supper, is an ordinance open to all believers in Jesus Christ, therefore all who believe are welcome to participate in the Lord’s Supper. The scriptures teach us that communion is a statement of faith in Christ’s death and resurrection. The elements of bread and wine, or juice, are symbols of Christ’s broken body and blood that He shed for us. They are reminders of His great sacrifice and are used to symbolize the new covenant. Jesus instructed his disciples to remember his death and resurrection by this visible symbol partaking in communion, breaking of the bread and receiving of the cup. We believe communion should be a reverent and important act deserving our full heartfelt participation.

“And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.’” Luke 22:19

Communion is offered every Sunday morning in the Reflection Room.

What are your church's beliefs on Baptism?

At Oak Bridge we believe that all mature Christ followers should be baptized to follow the example set by Jesus. Baptism by immersion symbolizes the spiritual cleansing and newness of life for believers through their identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. It is a public declaration and formal profession of faith that you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, proclaiming the commitment and love you have for Jesus. The scriptures teach us that baptism is an act of obedience to Christ by individuals who have surrendered themselves to His will. Baptism is available to believers who are old enough to recognize their sinfulness, mature enough to understand the death of Christ on their behalf, and responsible enough to make a solid decision to trust Christ and follow him the rest of their life.

“We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may have new life.” Romans 6:4.

Baptisms are offered at the Oak Bridge Center periodically. An informational readiness class is recommended before you are baptized.

Sign-ups are required in advance at the Information Center.
